Question: I've got a 1974 Silver Shadow which has been stood for nearly a year. Just went to get her started today. firstly found that no fuel was getting through although engine turning fine. This problem was found to be the electric pumps sticking so this was quickly sorted.

I then had her running sweet for about ten minutes, switched her off to find then that the starter wouldn't turn from the key. I've tried the old trick of putting a screwdriver across the starter poles and she turns over fine.

I'm thinking there must be a relay or fuse which has failed which operates the starter. When i turn the key there is no movement on the ammeter or anything. Checked all the obvious like that it is in park and the parking lights are set as of.

Can anybody help? with advice as to where the relay is located and does this sound like the problem?

Answer: Regarding your starting problems
First of all is the engine earth to subframe clean and making a good connection?
Failing this there is a starter relay UD19797P.
After this it could be the starter solenoid which i would then recommend a new starter motor which would be UE46348P.
We do also do the workshop manuals for this car on CD or USB Stick.
Hope this has helped with your enquiry
