Dismantling Archive | Cars For Sale | Cars Sold | Customers & Their Cars

We are constantly sourcing vehicles for dismantling, which has allowed us to build up a vast stock of used parts for every Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor car from 1945 to the present day.

These cars often provide an invaluable way of keeping a vehicle on the road when new parts are unavailable, no longer in production or are prohibitively expensive.  You’ll find details below of vehicles that are currently in our workshops for "parting out".

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-561

Chassis No: SRH12997

More Details & Pictures here

"Bought at auction by its previous owner, this 1972 Silver Shadow was acquired as a ‘rolling restoration’ project. Unfortunately, as one task was completed, at least two more required attention until it was accepted that it may never be completed. This is not always the case, but as time went on, the car became more uneconomical and it was decided to call a halt. It will now head to our recyclers and is an ideal source of components for similar models, of which, there are many still surviving."

Bentley Arnage Flying Spares

Bentley Arnage : FSD-560

Chassis No: SCBLB51E7XCH02393

More Details & Pictures here

"This is an early example of the Bentley Arnage, fitted with the BMW 4.4 litre V8 engine. After just a couple of years production, and due to customer demand, this engine was superseded by the familiar 6.75 litre Crewe built power plant. Having covered well over 120,000 miles, this car has provided excellent service to its previous owners but due to many mechanical issues, and the onset of corrosion, it has now become uneconomical to repair. Good recycled Arnage components remain sought after so recycling is now the sensible option."

Bentley Continental GT Flying Spares

Bentley Continental GT : FSD-559

Chassis No: SCBCE63W64C022111

More Details & Pictures here

"An early Continental GT with a number of mechanical issues, including various noises from the engine. As parts for these early cars become rare, and the cost of problem rectification becomes uneconomical, the best route to take is recycling. A car such as this also provides the opportunity for us to test recycled components from other more damaged donor vehicles, prior to offering them for sale."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-558

Chassis No: SRH17221

More Details & Pictures here

"First taking to the roads in 1973, this Silver Shadow appears particularly elegant with its period two-tone coachwork. Close inspection, however, reveals the usual corrosion problems to the wheel arches and valances. Mechanical issues include a gearbox problem making the car reluctant to move. The interior is particularly well preserved with excellent door cappings and dashboard. Unfortunately, our workshop inspection has identified major structural corrosion, including potentially dangerous suspension issues, and the car has now been declared unroadworthy and way beyond restoration. A definite case of beauty being only skin deep. Recycling awaits."

Bentley Mulsanne S Flying Spares

Bentley Mulsanne S : FSD-556

Chassis No: SCBZS006LCH32622

More Details & Pictures here

"Standing at the rear of a garage in Derbyshire for many years, this 1990 Mulsanne S has acquired a coating of moss to the nearside, and substantial corrosion elsewhere. Lack of use has resulted in the usual problems and although some interior panels had been removed to facilitate repairs, the task was too great and it was decided to part company. Still containing many salvageable components, it will be heading to our talented recycling department."

Bentley Mulsanne S Flying Spares

Bentley Mulsanne S : FSD-554

Chassis No: SCBZS00A7LCH33729

More Details & Pictures here

"Residing with its previous owner for the last 10 years, this 1990 Mulsanne S enjoyed regular use until a couple of years ago. Having covered in excess of 187,000 miles, it was in need of some mechanical attention and the usual corrosion issues were starting to show. The period of inactivity has not helped so it was decided that the time was right to part with the car. As is often the case, restoration would be financially unviable, but it’s always good to see a car that has covered a substantial mileage and has been enjoyed, as it should, throughout its life. Components from this car will live on in other similar models."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-552

Chassis No: SRH16256

More Details & Pictures here

"Purchased at auction by its previous owner, this 1973 Silver Shadow was not perfect but a good useable example. Driven regularly, and maintained accordingly, it provided comfortable transport for over three years. In need of major mechanical attention, together with increasing corrosion, the owner decided the time was right to part company. While it is always good to see a car that is enjoyed to the full, the amount of work now required makes restoration uneconomical so it is now destined for our recycling team."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-548

Chassis No: SRH5181

More Details & Pictures here

"An early example of the Silver Shadow, first registered in 1968, this car features the popular dashboard style, now known as ‘Chippendale’, minus the extra padding that appeared on later models. Acquired by the previous owner with the intention to restore, the amount of work required turned out to be far greater than first thought, so plans have now changed. Further investigation has revealed plenty of corrosion and with parts for these early models constantly in demand, recycling is the best option."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-544

Chassis No: SRH19812

More Details & Pictures here

"The property of its former custodian for some 10 years, this 1974 Silver Shadow is another example that has been left standing and neglected for a long time, resulting in the usual problems. An early flared arch model, it has suffered from extensive corrosion, lack of use, and a number of parts have been removed. However, while it is not a feasible restoration project, it will yield sufficient parts when it passes through our recycling department."

Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II : FSD-543

Chassis No: CH31139

More Details & Pictures here

"A 1991 Silver Spirit II featuring active-ride suspension, this car was acquired from a Midlands based owner who had not used it for some time. Last on the road in 2014, the car has deteriorated mechanically and despite initial impressions, corrosion is quite severe, particularly underneath. Anything capable of leaking is doing so, and the engine is not too keen to run, pointing to a possible fuel metering problem. All these points combine to make the car uneconomical for anything other than recycling which will yield useful parts for cars of a similar age."

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur : FSD-534

Chassis No: GCH16528

More Details & Pictures here

"Discovered in a London garden, this 1986 Silver Spur had laid dormant for a number of years, resulting in the usual problems. Damp conditions lead to corrosion while the mechanical inactivity does it no favours. Another case where the cost of restoration, or even just recommissioning would prove uneconomical. Now awaiting the attention of our recycling team who will identify the salvageable components remaining."

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur : FSD-533

Chassis No: SCAZN0003ECH09465

More Details & Pictures here

"Residing in Birmingham for the past few years, this 1984 Silver Spur was in regular use until quite recently. As is often the case, a few mechanical issues developed, the cost of which were seen as uneconomical by the owner. Corrosion was also quite severe in all the usual places so the decision was made to part with the car. Our detailed inspection confirms that restoration is not viable. Presumably having served time as a wedding carriage, the extra long wheelbase of the Spur being popular for that purpose, it will now provide useful components for other similar models."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-532

Chassis No: SRH12045

More Details & Pictures here

"Unloved for many years, this 1972 Silver Shadow formed part of a trilogy of similarly neglected examples which were left exposed to the elements in a yard in the southern half of the country. A number of parts were removed prior to arrival but there are still sufficient remaining to make recycling worthwhile."

Bentley Eight Flying Spares

Bentley Eight : FSD-522

Chassis No: SCBZS8008HCH21716

More Details & Pictures here

"Residing in central London for much of its life, this early fuel injected Bentley Eight has seen regular use, being well maintained initially, and eventually becoming a daily run around. As is often the case, smaller jobs were neglected until the amount of work required overall became uneconomical. Having served its previous owners well, it will now be recycled by our experienced team."

Bentley Mulsanne S Flying Spares

Chassis No: SCAZS0007HCH20255

"Arriving with a bicycle on the back seat, we think the previous owner was pretty much resigned to the fact that he would not be driving home in this car. And he was correct. First registered in May 1987, this early fuel injected Silver Spirit has been through the hands of several owners and is showing severe signs of age. Numerous electrical ‘modifications’ have been carried out and corrosion is evident along with general wear and tear and a number of mechanical issues. It is now destined for our recycling department – and the owner was last seen heading for Leicester on his bike."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-509

Chassis No: SRH14767

More Details & Pictures here

"A 1973 Silver Shadow which has been sitting outside a Lancashire house for many years. A change of circumstance halted restoration work some time ago and as is often the case, the car deteriorated to a point where economical progress is no longer viable. Fitted with desirable Shadow II headrests, the car is largely complete, although not everything is where it should be, which, in turn, will aid the recycling process when its turn comes."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow LWB Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow LWB : FSD-505

Chassis No: LRH16677

More Details & Pictures here

"Purchased as a restoration project by the previous owner, this rare long wheelbase version of the Silver Shadow has recently returned from the Netherlands. UK registered in 1974, it was specified with rare velour interior, rather than the more traditional hide upholstery. An inspection by a north-east based marque specialist revealed just how much work would be involved to make the car roadworthy again and the owner was directed to us. Always unfortunate when rare models such as this have to be recycled but our team will treat it with the respect it deserves."

"We recently unearthed no less than 6 Silver Shadows from their woodland retreat in Ireland. Sporting various levels of moss, grass, and general vegetation, it goes without saying that these cars have suffered severely from their time in these damp conditions. However, we love a challenge here at Flying Spares so they were successfully extracted, loaded onto a suitable transporter, and shipped over to their final resting place. Ranging from late 1960s models to a late 1970s Shadow II, they will provide a wide range of useful components for far more deserving causes."

"It is unusual to find a one owner car such as this which first took to the road in 1988. Remaining with the original purchaser for some 30 years, the car has obviously been used and enjoyed throughout its life, being correctly maintained but not excessively pampered. Showing signs of age, and having covered in excess of 200,000 miles this Spirit has provided sterling service but is now ready to be recycled. It is interesting to note that this car would have cost around £85,000 when new, meaning that the owner enjoyed luxury motoring for around just £3000 per year throughout his ownership."

"Purchased by the previous owner as a ‘donor car’ for a second Silver Shadow, this 1973 model was partly dismantled when it arrived. It still retains a number of useful components, some still attached, and some scattered around the interior and the boot. Serious body corrosion issues are present so the only sensible option is to continue the dismantling process which our recycling team are more than willing to undertake."

Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit : FSD-485

Chassis No: SCAZS0005BCH02800

"An early example of the Silver Spirit, dating from 1981. Described as a fine example of the marque, it turned out not to be and while it appears quite smart in the photographs, underneath is a very different story. A victim of lack of use, the car has spent a number of years in a storage unit and was eventually retrieved from an agricultural setting. Yet another case where the cost of restoration would far outweigh the value of the car so it will be skillfully dismantled to provide quality used parts for similar, more deserving cars."

"Initially taking to the road in 1985, this Silver Spirit passed through a number of owners until it was identified as a suitable candidate for modification. As ever, the enthusiasm was great in the beginning but ultimately faded, leaving the car in a part complete state. The intention was to create a matt-finished lowered ‘drift’ car – probably not something Mr Rolls or Mr Royce would have would have approved of, but an interesting concept, none the less. However, the car is now with us, awaiting its turn with our dismantling team."

Bentley Mulsanne S Flying Spares

"Parking your Bentley in a field and leaving it there for many years is not the best way to look after it, and storing the spare wheel on the front passenger seat is never a good idea. This one was well surrounded by grass and mud and took a bit of extracting. Originally registered in 1989, it is the more popular injected model but, needless to say, time has not been kind and the level of corrosion together with mechanical failings mean that there will be only one outcome."

"Also in the same farmyard for a similar length of time was this Shadow II. Again, the major damage is rust to the bodywork and underneath, together with general decay of wiring and trim. Chrome wheel arch trims can hide some horrors, as in this case, and the photographs show some unusual features beneath the bonnet. Well beyond salvation, this is another car that will be donating components to far more worthy causes."

"Languishing in the corner of a Buckinghamshire garage, this is another restoration project that was never quite completed. In fact, other than removing the everflex roof, it wasn’t really started. Dating from September 1976, this is a late ‘flared arch’ Silver Shadow which was in fairly good shape when it entered the garage but, as ever, time has taken its toll. There is a fair amount of corrosion underneath, many components have been relocated to the luggage compartment, and it is now well beyond an economical restoration. We have managed to run the engine so that will live on in another more deserving example at some point in the future."

"Part of a collection of around 12 motor cars, many in similar condition, this 1983 Silver Spirit spent many years sitting on a driveway waiting for its turn in the garage of the owner. Unfortunately, it ended up waiting rather too long and deteriorated way beyond the stage where it could have been rescued. No chance of a reprieve for this one, it will be recycled in the very near future."

Bentley Turbo R Flying Spares

Bentley Turbo R : FSD-448

Chassis No: HCH21782

More Details & Pictures here

"Purchased as a restoration project by a professional Rolls-Royce and Bentley mechanic, work unfortunately stalled due to a change in circumstances. Although partly dismantled, all components came with the car, but a close inspection revealed rather too much corrosion to make continuation of the project viable. It will prove a useful source of used parts."

"Arriving with half of the engine in the boot is never a good start. Add to that the rather randomly placed interior panels, and unusually coloured seats and the fate of this car is almost immediately sealed. There are far more deserving projects so parts from this car will go to help those."

"Serving time as a garden ornament, somewhere north of Scotch Corner, has done this early Mulsanne Turbo no favours whatsoever. Blending nicely into its surroundings, as moss took hold, it deteriorated well beyond the point of no return and has now made one final journey to meet our recycling team."

"Another abandoned restoration project, this early example first took to the road in 1981. As is often the case, the sheer amount of work and investment required to resurrect cars in this condition does not always make sense. The owner of this one decided to walk away from it, leaving recycling as the only sensible option."

"Accident damage to the rear end of this 1989 Silver Spirit unfortunately sealed its fate. The cost of repairs to an already ageing example were sufficient to write it off, but being in relatively regular use prior to the accident means that many parts will be salvaged by our recycling department."

"This one may have the appearance of a Bentley Turbo R, but it started life, in 1981, as a Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. An image conscious former keeper, obviously preferred to modify his Rolls, rather than invest in the genuine article, resulting in a Turbo R lacking the performance of the real thing. All show, and not quite enough go, some may say. Now well and truly on its final journey to our recycling department – let’s hope they can spot the difference."

"Hand built by Park Ward, with body design 2003, this car was supplied to Exeter City Council in 1963 to serve as the official Mayoral limousine. In 1985 it was exported to America where it remained until 2010, when it was repatriated to the UK. More recently, selected components have been utilised to facilitate the restoration of an historically important motor car of similar type. This has resulted in the remains of the car arriving with us. Recycled parts for these exclusive cars rarely become available."

Bentley Eight Flying Spares

Bentley Eight : FSD-363

Chassis No: JCH22252

More Details & Pictures here

"A 1988 Bentley Eight saloon, successfully extracted from the woods where it has been living for the past decade, or longer. Yet another example of a car that has been forgotten about and deteriorated way beyond economical repair. An early injected, naturally aspirated model, the only way forward is to salvage re-useable components for more deserving causes."

Bentley Turbo R Flying Spares

Bentley Turbo R : FSD-359

Chassis No: KCH26089

More Details & Pictures here

"First registered in 1989, this Turbo R was with the previous owner for over 12 years, and used and enjoyed throughout his ownership. Having covered over 150,000 miles, the car is now best described as ‘a little tired’ and is at a stage where more expenditure is required and that just does not make financial sense. Better to use the serviceable components to keep other, more respectable models on the road."

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Flying Spares

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-356

"First registered in 1975, this Silver Shadow had been with its previous owner since 2002. Used regularly, and correctly maintained it was a very good example, but, a change of circumstance resulted in it being unattended for a couple of years. A move abroad forced the sale of the car and on inspection, corrosion was evident and a number of mechanical issues, caused by lack of use, had occurred. Now in the queue for recycling."

"This Silver Spirit first took to the road in 1982 but after several years of fine service, it was eventually abandoned in a haulage yard. Initially well looked after, it has now unfortunately deteriorated beyond economical repair and will be recycled to donate parts to more roadworthy examples."

"A 1983 Silver Spirit which was purchased as a restoration project by the previous owner. However, as is often the case, the amount of work required, together with the substantial financial outlay, eventually dissuaded him from continuing. A long delay while considering the way forward has lead to further deterioration, rendering the car completely beyond repair, so it will be recycled in the near future."
