From 1974 (VIN 20755 in N America, VIN 22118 Rest of world) an electronic Lucas Opus ignition system was fitted in conjunction with a Lucas 22C12 1.5 ohm coil and a ballast resistor.
New ignition modules are no longer available but we supply a reconditioned exchange unit CD5904SXR if you prefer originality in your car.
However, we recommend the modern Pertronix Ignitor kit (ELEC5) in conjunction with a Flamethrower coil (COIL1 or COIL2) as a great improvement on the original system which has become increasingly unreliable with time.
Vacuum unit CD5809 is the standard type fitted, except for cars built for North America, Australia and Japan which were fitted with vacuum unit CD5845 and coil UE40913. Californian cars from VIN 40194 were fitted with vacuum CD6079, solenoid UE43111 and coil UE40913.
