This is a fully reconditioned rear axle.
A 12/41 (3.416:1) differential makes a welcome but moderate 8% plus upgrade to the earlier standard 11/41 (3.72:1) unit. This later ratio was offered midway through Bentley R type production, then standardised from chassis B1 YA, and used in RR Silver Dawn and later Silver Wraith SWB models. It provides approx 50 mph at 2000 rpm / 62 mph at 2500 rpm with standard 6.50 x 16 tyres and transforms the Bentley MKVI, earlier Bentley R Type and RR Silver Dawn and is suitable in hilly or mountainous regions where our 13/40 (3.076:1) axle may be just a little too highly geared.
The axle is upgraded to the latest production specification with tapered imperial pinion bearings and heavy duty housing. It comes complete with new crown wheel and pinion gear set, a modern front oil seal, new nuts and heavy duty washers ready for bolting up to the axle side tubes. It is supplied with a two page rebuild sheet that records every detail of the rebuild including the thickness of every spacer.

We would prefer that you ship us your old axle and half shafts. We can then assess the condition and advise accordingly. Before supplying we request the chassis number for the vehicle the parts are being supplied for. We also ask for a description of fault with the vehicle. PLEASE NOTE: This axle will only be guaranteed if the rear wheel bearings are replaced at the time of fitting. New bearings or exchange half shafts (containing new bearings) are available.
