Question: What should the cylinder compressions in my Cloud II be and if they are low what are the common causes?

Answer: The cylinder compression readings in the 8:1 compression ratio V8 engine should be between 110-130 psi with the higher reading for a new/rebuilt engine and there should be minimal fluctuation in the readings for each cylinder. If your readings are low there are two prinicple causes: wear in the bores allowing loss of compression between the piston rings and liner or wear in the valve mechanism - valves, guides and seats.
