Determined to restore perfection, our Technical Service Department embarked on an 18-month project to re-engineer the process. They stripped, rebuilt, and tested racks repeatedly—investing in specialist training and custom testing equipment. Their dedication led to the creation of new tools, improved materials, and enhanced build methods that truly recaptured the factory steering precision.

The Rebuild Process

Each rack begins with the fitting of new olives, seals, bearings, and shims, all adjusted to achieve the precise rotational force of the original design. Using bespoke tools, our technicians assemble, align, and torque every component to specification. The rack then undergoes bench testing under simulated driving conditions to ensure flawless performance—checked for leaks, smoothness, and accurate feedback. Finally, it’s cleaned, painted, and packaged for dispatch.

To validate the results, we completed a 2,000-mile test on our Silver Spirit development car, culminating in a visit to one of the UK’s most respected Rolls-Royce and Bentley heritage dealers for final approval.
