There are some cars that mark a milestone for a business, and this Aston Martin V8 Vantage is one of them. After decades of dismantling and recycling Rolls-Royce and Bentley models, this is the very first Aston Martin to arrive in the Flying Spares workshop for breaking. A New Chapter for Flying Spares

This is where our work begins. Our technicians have been carefully dismantling the vehicle, inspecting, testing and cataloguing every reusable component. Each part has bee removed methodically to preserve its condition, cleaned where appropriate, checked for serviceability and photographed before being added to our inventory. Nothing worthwhile is rushed. From body panels and lighting to suspension components, electronic control modules, switchgear, trim pieces, interior leather, glass, engine components and drivetrain parts, every salvageable item represents an opportunity to keep another Aston Martin V8 Vantage on the road.

Vehicle recycling has changed enormously over the years. Modern dismantling isn't simply taking a car apart—it's about preserving high-quality original components that would otherwise be lost and giving owners access to genuine parts that may no longer be available new.

Every Part Has Another Story to Tell

While this particular V8 Vantage won't enjoy another early morning drive across the countryside, pieces of it almost certainly will. Its dashboard may find a new home in another cherished Aston. A door, a wheel, a control module or a beautifully stitched leather seat could help another owner keep their car exactly as Aston Martin intended. There's something rather satisfying about that. Getting Started

So far the Aston has been wheeled into our workshop and has been put through our comprehensive arrival inspection. This first stage is one of the most important parts of the dismantling process. Before a single component is removed, we work methodically around the vehicle to assess the condition of every major system. Is the interior in good condition? Does the engine start cleanly and build healthy oil pressure? Are there any unusual noises, leaks or warning signs that need investigating?

Recording this information at the outset allows us to accurately assess every component before it enters our stock, ensuring customers know exactly what they're buying.

With the initial inspection complete, the team began safely powering down the vehicle's electrical systems. Modern cars contain numerous electronic control units, pyrotechnic seatbelt tensioners and airbags, all of which must be safely isolated and deactivated before dismantling can begin in earnest. Work then moved inside the cabin. The seats were carefully removed and sent away for a professional deep clean before joining our warehouse inventory, while both doors were removed to give the technicians unrestricted access to the interior.

Although removing the doors so early may seem unusual, it dramatically improves access and greatly reduces the risk of accidentally damaging the trim during the dismantling process.With the cabin opened up, the real strip-down can begin. Over the coming weeks we'll continue documenting each stage of the process as the Vantage gradually reveals the engineering hidden beneath its beautifully sculpted exterior.
