A Complete Bentley S2 Restoration Opportunity

It isn't every day that one Rolls-Royce leaves and six classics arrive to take its place.

Not long ago, our rather rare Mulliner Park Ward 2-Door Saloon found a new home. In return came something altogether less glamorous, but arguably far more exciting: a transporter loaded with six Rolls-Royce and Bentley classics making the journey across the Irish Sea from the Emerald Isle.

Among them was this.

A Bentley S2 finished in Wedding White with a deep red leather interior. One of the more complete cars from the collection, and one that immediately caught our attention for a simple reason.

It is still a car.

That might sound obvious, but when it comes to vehicles of this age, completeness is becoming increasingly valuable. Missing trim, missing panels and missing interiors can often be the difference between a realistic restoration and a project that becomes impossible before it has even begun.

This S2 still has its identity intact.

It isn't perfect.

Far from it.

The paint has understandably grown tired after decades of service, with areas of fading, flaking and deterioration visible throughout. The body will require attention, including welding in areas, and any restoration will be a significant undertaking.

The interior tells a similar story. The deep red leather is complete but will need care and refurbishment to bring it back to its former appearance. Like many cars of this era, it shows the effects of time, but importantly, the foundations are still there.

And that's what makes this car interesting.

A Bentley S2 is not something that can simply be replaced once it disappears. Built during an important period of Crewe history, these cars represent the final years of the traditional V8 Bentley saloon before the marque moved into a new era.

Saving one is not just about restoring a car.

It's about preserving a piece of that history.

We have not yet carried out a full mechanical inspection, so its running condition and exact requirements remain unknown. It did not drive from the transporter, although it rolled freely enough to be moved into position. A complete assessment would be needed before any restoration work begins.

Rather than carry out that process ourselves, we have decided to offer the car as it arrived to see if there is someone out there who wants to take on the challenge.
