Just Arrived

Bentley Continental GT - FSD 835

Chassis: 28059

We know what you're thinking.

"Didn't you lot just have one of these?"

We did.

And no, this isn't the same Bentley making an unexpected return. It's simply another 2004 Continental GT that happens to look suspiciously like its predecessor, right down to the Silverlake Metallic paintwork.

Think of it as the sequel.

Look a little closer, though, and the differences begin to appear. This one wears a slightly bruised front bumper, and instead of the familiar magnolia interior, you’re greeted by a deep navy blue cabin that suits the car rather nicely. It's a little darker, a little sportier, and a welcome change from the specification we see most often.

With just 61,000 miles on the clock, it's also led a relatively gentle life for a car that's now over twenty years old.

It could certainly do with a wash. At the moment, a layer of road grime is doing an excellent job of hiding what we're fairly confident is a lovely depth of shine underneath. Even so, it presents well. The body is straight, the paint still has plenty of promise, and once it's had a proper clean we suspect it'll remind everyone why Silverlake Metallic became such a popular choice on these cars.

Mechanically, however, there's a little more to discuss.

Its previous owner eventually reached the point familiar to many classic and modern Bentley owners alike: fixing one small annoyance only for another to politely introduce itself. Rather than continue the cycle, the car found its way to us.

Fortunately, chasing electrical gremlins around a Bentley is just another day at the office here.

We'll get it into the workshop, work out which modules, sensors or mysterious bits of wiring have decided to become difficult, persuade them to behave themselves again, and build a clearer picture of what the car actually needs.

The good news?

There's every chance this one won't be staying for very long.

Unlike many of the cars that arrive here, this Continental GT isn't destined to become parts just yet. Assuming the workshop findings are as encouraging as we're hoping, the plan is to get it sorted, get it advertised, and get it back on the road where it belongs.

So yes, you did see one that looked almost exactly like this last week.

This just happens to be its twin.
