Time’s Up!

After months on our sales page, countless hopeful glances, and precisely zero brave buyers, the verdict is in: our 1954 Bentley R-Type isn’t going back on the road.

We rescued this one in the winter of 2023 — an unfinished restoration project saved from the jaws of dismantling. The idea was simple: offer it to the world, tempt a bold soul into finishing what someone else had started, and watch a piece of Bentley history roll back onto the road.

And we tried. We really did. The sales listing painted it as it was: a solid structure, a strong engine, and the bones of something great. The sort of car that, with enough hours, could once again carry itself with dignity. But months turned into more months, and enthusiasm turned into silence. The trailer never arrived, and the R-Type never left.

So here we are: its fate sealed. The spanners are out, the dismantling has begun, and this once-grand Bentley has now been cast in a different role — organ donor. Not the ending we’d hoped for, but not without purpose. Its panels, trim, and mechanical heart will go to fulfil outstanding orders for other R-Types still alive and kicking.

One car may be gone, but in its place, dozens will keep moving. A quiet sort of legacy — just not the glamorous kind.
