Bentley Mk VI Special - FSD 801

Chassis:  B93KL

£7,500

Yellow, unique, and unmistakably not your typical Mk VI — this Bentley Special is a true one-off. Whether you think it’s brilliantly eccentric or completely barking mad, one thing is certain: you won’t forget it.

Registered correctly as a Bentley Mk VI Special, it sits on a genuine Mk VI chassis with the proper Bentley straight-six engine and manual gearbox. Beneath the playful styling and sharp angles lies the real deal mechanically — a true Bentley foundation, ready for whatever direction its next owner decides to take.

Aesthetics: Love It, Loathe It, or Redesign It Entirely

Finished in pale yellow with boxy, hand-built bodywork, this car divides opinion instantly. It could be enjoyed exactly as it is — a cheerful, head-turning oddball — or it could serve as a starting point for a completely new special body. At the opposite extreme, you could strip it down to the Mk VI bones and build your own vision from scratch.

Whatever route you choose, the platform underneath is unquestionably Bentley.

Condition Overview

This car has come to us as a restoration project, and our workshop report is clear: it will need full recommissioning before it can return to the road. The engine is not seized but is currently not running, as a number of components have been removed (water pump, cooling system, fuel tank, air ducting, etc.).

The bodywork, interior, and running gear also show age-related wear, with various cracks, corrosion, and missing items. This is not an MOT-and-go example — it’s a project with character, potential, and a lot of work ahead of it.

Here’s the transparent overview:

Body & Exterior

  • Pale yellow paint in average condition with multiple cracks and chips
  • Rust around the front grille area
  • Two parallel cracks beneath both doors
  • Corrosion to bumpers
  • Vertical crack and a cut-out section beneath the spare wheel
  • Front lights tarnished
  • Tyres cracked on all four corners

Interior

  • Trim and carpets in average condition
  • Seats are aftermarket (half leather, half fabric)
  • Switchbox/key barrel faulty
  • Horn works (and suits the character perfectly)

Mechanical

  • 12,574 miles showing
  • Engine not seized but not running (water pump and fuel tank removed but included)
  • Differential, gearbox, and sump plug leaking
  • Rear suspension gaiters split, bushes worn
  • Front subframe showing rust and flaking

Boot Area

  • Large hole in the boot floor (looks as though something with teeth caused it)

Overall Verdict from Workshop

A full restoration project. Suitable as a rolling resto, a donor for a fresh special body, or an eccentric classic to rebuild and enjoy.
