Flying Spares are pleased to have some positive news to celebrate as we all continue to cope with lockdown restrictions.

Last week Directors Ben and Lucy Handford popped into work to mark the twenty year anniversary since Duncan Charleston began his career at Flying Spares.

It is a company tradition to mark the ten year employment anniversary of any member of staff by holding a small presentation in front of all the team. Duncan is, however, the first employee to reach the twenty year milestone.

Despite currently only operating with a skeleton staff, Ben and Lucy were determined to mark the occasion as publicly as possible. The presentation of a gift and a few words from Ben was therefore made in front of just fourteen members of staff who congregated (at safe distances!) in the Flying Spares car park.

Duncan joined Flying Spares in 2000 as only our fourth employee. He came to Ben and Lucy’s attention when he joined our local main dealer, Michael Powles Ltd, as a parts apprentice under the tutorship of John Creasy.

From the outset, Ben and Lucy were impressed by Duncan’s traits of loyalty and dedication, by his hard working mentality and by his customer-focused, straight talking ethos. It is a source of great pride to Ben and Lucy that Duncan chose to build his career at Flying Spares and has risen up through the ranks to become a key part of the senior management team.

Lucy commented “Ben and I hugely value our staff. We are very aware that it is only through their knowledge, experience and dedication that we are able to offer our customers the best possible experience. Duncan’s twenty year anniversary gives us cause to celebrate and acknowledge his many positive contributions to the Flying Spares story. Well done Duncan – here’s to the next twenty years!”
