We are delighted to formally announce Flying Spares’ acquisition of Norman Geeson’s axle rebuilding business, Crewe Classic Six.

Norman’s extensive background in the field of engineering makes impressive reading.

Norman Geeson IEng. MIRTE MSOE, served an automotive apprenticeship and spent eleven years studying and teaching at Derby’s various colleges. By chance, he was taught at both college and work by ex-RR engineers, some of whom had previously worked at the Belper experimental section.

Norman’s career quickly developed into engineering management. He took on responsibility for complete production plants, millions of pounds worth of company power supplies, waste, water and effluent, alongside hundreds of vehicles and commensurate staff.

This work resulted in worldwide travel on short term consultations for production plants from the USA to Russia. Despite these commitments, Norman’s appreciation for engineering excellence meant that he always found time to indulge his passion for classic cars, including his own beloved R Type.

Upon retiring from the engineering industry, Norman was keen to prove his belief that with the benefit of sixty years of engineering advancement, the rear axles of the early post-war models could be improved. From this quest for improvement, Crewe Classic Six naturally evolved. Over the intervening years, Norman developed a number of modifications and improvements to these axles and oversaw the manufacture of a wealth of new parts.

Norman’s complete understanding of this specific range of Rolls-Royce and Bentley models, and the engineering principles behind the workings of their differentials, led to his well-earned reputation as the industry’s outstanding supplier of rebuilt differentials and half shafts.

We are honoured that Norman chose Flying Spares to continue his work and maintain his reputation. Over the past two years he has been training our technician, Phil Armstrong, as well as transferring his extensive stock of rebuild kits and specialist tooling to our premises. If you have any questions or would like advice regarding a rear axle problem, Phil will be only too happy to help.
